STANCE-
The position of the body during shooting.
See below as shown by Lee Brett.
Your stance in billiards is the foundational element that dictates your balance, alignment, and ultimately, the consistency of your stroke. While individual body types necessitate some variations, the core principle is to create a stable base that allows for unhampered cue movement along the intended shot line. Generally, a good stance involves placing your dominant foot (e.g., right foot for a right-handed player) along or slightly behind the shot line, with the non-dominant foot stepped out to the side for balance, creating a stable "tripod" with your feet and bridge hand. Your head should be positioned as low as comfortably possible, ideally with your dominant eye directly over the cue, to ensure accurate visual alignment. The goal is to achieve a comfortable, balanced, and consistent posture that allows your arm and cue to swing freely in a straight line, free from any obstruction or unnecessary body movement.
